Have you heard about the Twitter war between Miranda Lambert and Chris Brown? She was not happy that he was given two performances at the Grammys, tweeting "It's never right to beat on a woman". He tweeted some nasty notes back. So, at her concert last week, one of the fans held up a sign saying "Take Notes Chris Brown". Miranda grabbed it, and showed it from the stage as she lead into "Gunpowder and Lead".
I can't wait for the "Hunger Games" movie to come out next month. I loved the books, could not put them down. Taylor Swift teamed up with The Civil Wars (the Nashville duo that won the "Best Country Duo or Group" Grammy) for the first song from the soundtrack, "Safe and Sound". It debuted on MTV earlier this week. Watch it here.
I LOVE Phil Vassar! I think he is one of the best songwriters in country music. He's written so many hits for other artists, Tim McGraw's "My Next 30 Years", Jo Dee Messina's "Bye Bye", and of course Phil's own version of "Another Day in Paradise". Plus, he is a very nice person, I met him for the first time when he came in to our studios to play live with the POR Morning Crew. And then, when he was at Merrill Auditorium, I was talking with him backstage, and told him about my friend who was a fan, but could not attend the concert because she had cancer. He asked if he could record a video for her with his best wishes (which he did on my iPhone). What a great guy!
Now he has a new album out called "Don't Miss Your Life". Here is the first single, the title song. Listen to the lyrics, there's a wonderful message.
Faith Hill's time spent in the recording studio with the legendary Tony Bennett for his current Duets II CD will be featured on the upcoming PBS special, called Great Performances. The show takes fans inside the studio sessions for a behind-the-scenes making of the album on January 27th.
Taylor Swift announced over the holidays that she has the first single from the soundtrack of "The Hunger Games". I can't wait to see the movie in March. I read all three books in less than a week (didn't get much sleep that week). Here is Taylor with the group "The Civil Wars" singing "Safe and Sound". I wonder where this will be in the movie. I have a guess, but won't tell you if I'm right until after the movie comes out.
Keith Urban ran a contest where fans produced and submitted commercials for Keith's new fragrence "Phoenix" (which by the way, is the best selling men's fragrence right now). Here is the video that won.
I discovered a show on HGTV that I just love, called Junk Gypsies. It turns out that they have designed stuff for Mirand Lambert. The show is on Tuesday night at 7pm on HGTV. here is the promo video.
Super 8! by Randi Kirshbaum, posted Nov 28 2011 3:46PM
My family watched the movie "Super 8" this past weekend. It just came out on DVD last week. We loved it! It was produced by Steven Spielberg and directed by J.J. Abrams (Lost). It had everything....heart, soul, adventure, relationships between friends, forbidden young love, healing between parents and kids, and a few screams!! Here is the trailer.
